The first time you open KURS

KURS isn’t signed with Apple and Microsoft yet, so your computer asks the first time whether you want to open it anyway. It only happens once.

Mac

  1. Open the zip file in Downloads, and drag KURS into Applications.
  2. Double-click KURS. macOS says it can’t check KURS – click Done.
  3. Open System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click Open Anyway next to KURS. Enter your password.
  4. Double-click KURS again, and click Open Anyway.

macOS 14 and earlier: right-click KURS, choose Open, and click Open again.

Windows

  1. Right-click the zip file in Downloads, choose Extract All…, and put the KURS folder on your desktop, for example.
  2. Double-click KURS.bat in the folder.
  3. If Windows shows “Windows protected your PC”, click More info and then Run anyway.

The first start takes about a minute. You read the key points of the terms, create your profile – and you’re ready. KURS speaks English, Danish, Norwegian and Swedish.

What you need

  • A Mac with macOS 11 or later – Apple silicon or Intel.
  • Or a PC with Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit).
  • Everything KURS needs is included – Python too. You don’t install anything else.
  • Internet to download KURS and for updates. With a paid plan, KURS needs to go online at least once a month.

Updates and your data

  • KURS updates itself and checks that each new version is genuine. You can turn it off in Settings.
  • Your data lives in KURS’ data folder – not in the KURS folder. A new version never touches it.
